Our first restaurant, the Bagel Beanery originated in May of 1995 in Grand Rapids at the corner of Michigan and College. The Bagel Beanery offers West Michigan’s best bagels, gourmet coffee, catering, and delicious deli sandwiches. We have continually grown as opportunities have arisen.
In 1996 we opened the Breton Road Bagel Beanery, and in 1998 we opened the Clyde Park Bagel Beanery. In February of 2001 we purchased the two Sundance Grill restaurants, which also originated here in Grand Rapids in 1985. While we own and operate the Michigan Street location, the other locations are now licensees.
The Sundance Grill, which is renowned for its generous breakfast and lunch menu items, has developed a strong following for its South Western dishes and is open in the evening with Grand Rapids’ only Margarita Bar. We have two locations to serve you on 28th Street in Cascade and downtown on Ottawa Ave.
In October of 2001 we purchased one of West Michigan’s best restaurants, The Beltline Bar & Mexican Café, which had been in operation for over fifty years. The Beltline Bar was made famous for originating and introducing West Michigan to the Wet Burrito and have now served over 5.1 million orders of our signature dish.
In 2002, we acquired Klein’s Deli and Bagel Factory in Kalamazoo. It has since been converted into a Bagel Beanery and is a licensee as well.
In 2003 we purchased the two Omelette Shoppe & Bakery’s in Traverse City Michigan, the first of which opened in 1975. The Omelette Shoppe is famous for the “world’s greatest omelette’s”, but their loyal followers may first boast about their homemade pecan rolls and cinnamon swirl pastries, which are baked fresh on site everyday. The Omelette Shoppe and Bakery is open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch with two locations in Traverse City, MI and two locations in Grand Rapids, MI to serve you.
Acquired by Restaurant Partners Inc., in 2005, Boone’s Prime Time Pub has been a long time favorite eatery for locals and vacationers in Suttons Bay, MI. In 2008, we acquired the Grand Coney Diner on Michigan Street and later in 2015 aquired the Grand Coney in Allendale. Two more Grand Coney’s were opened in 2016 on 28th Street as well.
In February of 2011, Restaurant Partners purchased The Flap Jack Shack in Traverse City. This restaurant features a casual, affordable menu which highlights made from scratch flap jacks, oven baked pancakes, classic egg dishes and original Flap Jack Shack Favorites. Our family-friendly property seats over 240 people and uses fresh, local ingredients when and where possible. All of our menu items are affordable priced under $11. Outdoor dining and a banquet room are available upon request.
In October of 2016, Restaurant Partners acquired Rockwell’s Republic. This establishment is one of downtown Grand Rapids’ favorite hangouts. This brand is known for its’ craft cocktails, innovative cuisine, elevated deck and was voted GR’s best happy hour!
Also in 2016, RPI acquired the Red Geranium Café restaurants. One is located on Kalamazoo Ave in Kentwood and the other is on Byron Center Ave in Wyoming. These are wonderful neighborhood gathering places that are open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week.
